| Who We Are
We appreciate your interest in the TKC Foundation, Singapore.
The Toh Kian Chui Foundation is a private charity based in Singapore. It was established on November 9, 2001 and was registered with effect from January 4, 2002 as a charity under the Singapore Charities Act. The Foundation has broad philanthropic objectives. It's aim is to provide grants to any worthwhile cause to alleviate suffering due to poverty, disease, disability, old age or mental illness.
The Foundation is set up to make this World a better place, with special emphasis in improving the lives of people in Singapore and Asia.
The Foundation's capital has been provided by the Founder Mr. Toh Kian Chui. The committee members, all volunteers, meet bi-monthly to make decisions on appeals. Grants are made from incomes earned from the Foundation's assets and occasionally by drawing from the capital. The Foundation does not raise money from the public or elsewhere. On November 9, 2002, the Foundation donated a sum of S$2million to the National University of Singapore's Medical Faculty for the establishment of the the Toh Kian Chui Memorial Scholarship. This was matched dollar for dollar by the Singapore government. This scholarship was established to honour the wish of our founder, had he been given the opportunity for an education, would have chosen to study medicine to benefit his fellowman.
The Foundation was set up by the family of the late Mr. Toh Kian Chui to perpetuate his memory. It is the family's wish that all who benefit from it will in turn make this World a better place for others. |
